The Barred Owl of Dog Woods of Guemes
I was walking the new trail cut to the north in Dog Woods of Guemes the other day, and spotted this Barred Owl taking a mid-day nap in the forest canopy. I was on-site for a while at a respectable distance doing my “wait for it”. Several creaking trees would wake him up, he would stretch, puff up, yawn, then back to his nap. Once in a while, there would be some scratching and a little owl yoga. My time with this owl was very informative watching all of the owl’s various posturing as a sleepy owl.
